Washington [US], October 10: US Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign and related political committees have raised $1 billion since she entered the race for the White House in July.
According to Reuters, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has raised more than $1 billion in donations since replacing incumbent US President Joe Biden in July.
Since Ms. Harris entered the race for the White House on July 21, donations have poured into her campaign and affiliated political action committees and the Democratic Party at an unprecedented pace. Ms. Harris raised $25 million on the day she was announced as the Democratic nominee and raised $500 million in about a month.
Former US President Donald Trump and the Republicans raised $130 million and $295 million in cash in August, compared to $404 million for Ms Harris and the Democrats.
The donations to Ms. Harris reflect the enthusiastic support of donors ahead of the US general election and November 5. This budget will be used for advertising and organizing campaign activities in battleground states.
Harris's race with Trump remains tight in national polls. A new Reuters/Ipsos poll from September 20-23 shows the two candidates still tied in many battleground states. Vice President Harris leads Trump by 46% to 43%.
Respondents ranked the economy as the top issue facing the United States, with 44% saying Trump would have a better approach to addressing the "rising cost of living," compared with 38% who chose Harris.
In the poll, voters had more confidence in Harris' mental acumen than Trump's, with 55% agreeing with the assessment that she is "mentally sharp and able to handle challenges," compared to 46% who said the same about Trump.
The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll surveyed 1,272 U.S. adults nationwide online, including 1,076 registered voters. Of those, 969 were considered most likely to vote on Election Day. The poll has a margin of error of about 3 percentage points.
