Abu Dhabi [UAE], October 12: UAE judoka Bishrelt Khorloodoi today gave the UAE its first gold medal in the opening of the Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Slam 2024, held at Mubadala Arena, Abu Dhabi.
The UAE athlete defeated Mongolia's Sosorbaram in the closing match for the U52kg competitions.
She set out her journey by defeating the Brazilian champion, Conceicao Gabriela, in the preliminary round qualifiers, then defeated the Kosovan champion, Muminoviq Erza, before reaching the final stage, where she won the gold.
The opening ceremony was attended by Jabr Al Suwaidi, Minister of State; Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Darei, President of the UAE Judo Federation, and Chairman of the event'S higher committee; Marius Vizer, President of the International Judo Federation (IJF); Obaid Al Anzi, President of Asian Judo Union and Kuwait Judo Federation; Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah, President of Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation, and Arab Judo Union, and Nasir Al Nabhani, Chief Executive Officer at Solutions+, a Mubadala company.
The three-day event is organised under the supervision of the International Judo Federation and with support from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
